Welcome to the webpage for Sonic
Overload. As my regular listeners know by now, I play punk, hardcore, garage
and other loud music, although there are surprises from time to time as well as
decidedly slanted commentary on the “issues of the day” and that’s also
presented through song selections and audio clips.
Recent shows can be streamed or
downloaded from the archive at sonicoverload.blogspot.com. And check out the Facebook page.

DECEMBER 2 2024
I’ve said it
repeatedly this year—or so it seems—I’m tired of having to do tribute shows.
This week, it’s in memory of Ross Noyes, who played in a number of Boston bands,
including Ringers, Sirens and several others. You’ll be hearing six of his bands
at the top of the show. Ross also co-founded the Regeneration space with Sue Jeiven,
first in Dorchester and then at its longer term location in Allston. That
housed a tattoo parlor (which still exists), a record store and show space. It
came and went way too quickly, as usually happens with DIY spaces in the area.
Ross had
moved to NYC some years back and I didn’t have a lot of contact with him. And,
while reading the remembrances, one common thread is he could be a bit
difficult. I never had any issues. Maybe he didn’t want to piss off the old
man. Who knows? My dealings were always pleasant. What I do know is no one
should die at age 43. Rest in peace, Ross.
